Drawbots at Tobacco Warehouse

At Tobacco Warehouse, join Jonah Brucker-Cohen and build Drawbots by mixing standard drawing materials such as magic markers with weighted motors and plastic cups. When the cups vibrate, they draw circles and lines depending on their overall weight and power.  Drawbots is a drawing system and robot that anyone can build and use without having to learn electronics. The project has been shown and workshopped over 50 times in 14 countries on 5 continents since 2001.

Jane’s Carousel

The first carousel to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places, this completely restored marry-go-round was made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1922. It is a classic three-row machine with 48 exquisitely carved horses, two superb chariots, and the scenery panels, rounding boards, crests, center pole and platform are all original. Now open in the newly restored section of Brooklyn Bridge Park between Main Street and the Brooklyn Bridge, the carousel is housed in a spectacular pavilion designed by Pritzker Prize winning French architect Jean Nouvel and magically set on the East River. It will delight NYC children, as well as visitors from around the world, for many generations to come. $2 admission.
