Video and Projection
The Living Room Project
‘The Living Room Project’ is a series of short dance performances where participants document their recreation of the artist’s childhood home video performance.
Orion
A still life of vintage marbles is transformed into a game evoking the chaotic movements of celestial bodies.
video_dumbo
Dumbo Arts Center’s video_dumbo is a festival for contemporary video art curated by Caspar Stracke and Gabriela Monroy. The festival provides local emerging artists with an exhibition platform and is augmented by a number of established, international selections. video_dumbo is part of the annual Dumbo Arts Festival. The goal of video_dumbo is to expand the audience for video art. The focus of video_dumbo is on the ideas and methods of video artists, who often work in an impressionistic, non-linear manner rather than in traditional narrative structures, thus distinguishing video_dumbo from a traditional short film festival.
Foop
In ‘Foop,’ the mirrored lobby of 55 Washington Street becomes the site for a possible science fiction plot. Playing off the motif of the elevator door as a porthole to other realms, the installation proposes that this office elevator could take you further than the fourth floor.
For Those Who Wait
An audio-visual installation which traps you in a small room filled with 24 video mapped clocks. At certain moments time appears to stand still while at others the entire room is filled with a cacophony of ticking and kinetic motion.
Inbetweening
‘Inbetweening’ or ‘tweening’ is the process of changing one image to another using computer animation technology. This installation involves pictures of audience members, which will be ‘tweened’ from one to the next in a large video display panel.
Immersive Surfaces
A group of over 15 international artists and curators joined together to explore the idea of surface as a place where various entities interact in this three-part video-projection experience incorporating cutting-edge technology. Under the technical guidance of vanguard production company, SenovvA, Inc. along with curator, Leo Kuelbs, and Light Harvest Studios, ‘Immersive Surfaces’ uses elements of Dumbo’s Manhattan Bridge Anchorage and the surrounding cityscape, as the ‘surface,’ colorfully blurring boundaries between quotidien perception, art and technology.
The Window Series
Smack Mellon presents Plumb’s public video project. Seen from the street, The Window Series inhabits the second floor corner windows at 111 Front Street with life-size video projections of Plumb’s hilarious cast of unusual characters.
Ice Will Be Here
A video installation which simulates perpetual snows and the forming of glacial strata by mixing three different timescales and natural elements.
